South County Health (SCH) is the first Rhode Island facility to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network. This group includes independent groups that have undergone a rigorous vetting process by Mayo Clinic to receive exclusive access to its knowledge and resources.

A significant advancement for Rhode Island healthcare

The partnership marks a major step forward for healthcare in Rhode Island. It forms the basis of SCH’s plan to establish a new model for independent community healthcare, blending world-class clinical expertise, advanced digital tools, and localized, patient-focused care.

As a network member, SCH healthcare professionals can promptly access the Mayo Clinic’s latest research, diagnostic insights, and treatment guidelines whenever they believe it will benefit their patients. This access comes at no extra cost to patients, ensuring high-quality care remains affordable and within reach.

Access to Mayo Clinic’s expertise and resources

SCH clinicians will utilize various resources, including AskMayoExpert, a trusted source of expert information for healthcare professionals seeking timely answers. They will also benefit from eConsults, direct links to Mayo Clinic specialists for complex cases, and eBoards, multidisciplinary case reviews involving Mayo Clinic experts and other network members.

Furthermore, SCH will access the Mayo Clinic Platform, offering advanced digital and AI-driven clinical tools. These resources will enhance the community’s existing high-quality care and provide additional support for complex and specialized cases.

A commitment to quality and patient-centered care

SCH’s selection to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network highlights its dedication to quality and patient-centered care, aligning with the network’s values, as noted by Ryan Uitti, M.D., medical director of the Mayo Clinic Platform.

Founded in 2011, the network has reached a 15-year milestone, comprising over 50 member organizations, 80 hospitals, and nearly 20,000 physicians globally. SCH’s membership is set to solidify its position as a leading healthcare provider in Rhode Island.

SCH, an independent nonprofit health system, operates a 100-bed community hospital and six ambulatory sites across central and southern Rhode Island. The Mayo Clinic, also a nonprofit, is dedicated to innovation in clinical practice, education, and research, providing compassionate care, expertise, and solutions to those in need.

The selection of SCH by the Mayo Clinic Care Network shows the organization’s reputation for excellence and its alignment with the network’s core values. As SCH moves forward, its patients will benefit from the combined strengths of local care and global expertise, ensuring that high-quality healthcare remains a cornerstone of the community.
